February’s winner! 🏆

In February 2021, the Purple Zone ran for 4 weeks. The activity was all about science, featuring 24 scientists from a broad range of fields. 867 students logged in, taking part in over 65 live chats and sending 150 questions to the scientists. During the activity, students voted for their favourite scientist. 100 votes were cast, and the winner was Amelia Gilio. November’s online STEM engagement activities from I’m a Scientist

I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here is connecting school students with real scientists throughout Autumn 2020.

Between the 2nd – 27th November we’ll be running the Health Zone, Physics Zone, Medical Research Zone, and Psychology Zone.

Elsewhere, there is a Space Zone for I’m an Engineer, and a General Science Zone in I’m a Scientist Ireland!

During the activity in November we asked the scientists and moderators to select the students who stood out for them: the students they thought asked the best questions, or engaged most in the live chats.

Teacher information – Enquiry Zone

The Enquiry Zone is a chance for primary school students to help design and carry out their own research project. It gives students ownership over research and an input into all stages of the project, helping them gain a real insight into how science works. Citizen Science is research that members of the public who are not professional scientists help to conduct, often by collecting or analysing data. This means that, in many cases, much more can be achieved than would be possible in a lab without the input of citizen scientists First, in the online ‘Design stage’, six psychologists will propose an idea for a ‘Citizen Science’ research project they can carry out with the help of your students.
