Royal Institution: CHRISTMAS LECTURES

We are salivating at the prospect of supporting this year’s CHRISTMAS LECTURES with an I’m a Scientist ‘The Truth About Food’ debate kit, and activity theme running from 6 January 2025.

Find out what’s happening and how you can be part of it below!

In this year’s Royal Institution’s CHRISTMAS LECTURES, Dr Chris van Tulleken will explore the fundamental impact that food has on our own health and that of the planet.

Chris will cover everything from our jaw anatomy, to the microbiome, how food becomes our fuel, and evolving diets. Chefs, scientists, and animals will join Chris to reveal how food and our interactions with it change over time.

🗨️ ‘The Truth About Food’ Chats

From January to July, the I’m a Scientist The Truth About Food theme will connect school students with CHRISTMAS LECTURE contributors and other scientists who help us to understand humans’ relationship with food.

The wide-reaching theme will get students and scientists talking about a huge variety of STEM topics. They could be discussing anything from where our food comes from and the biochemistry of what’s in it, to how our digestive system has evolved to match changing diets.

Chats will feature people working in diverse fields that explore our food and how it affects us. Students can find out how this is changing too, and see how science is making sure our food is safe for us and our planet, now and in future.
