Keep your class connected with STEM and each other

We’re supporting I’m a Scientist, Stay at home, an online free to enter STEM engagement activity for school students. It provides a safe, moderated space for students to be inspired by science.

This summer term, I’m a Scientist, Stay at home is here to help students stay connected with STEM and each other.

Register now to take part at: imascientist.org.uk/stayathome/teachers/

Students can:

  • Chat with STEM professionals across the UK, and with each other and their teachers, in 40-minute text-based chat sessions
  • Ask questions to scientists about anything they like, whether that’s discovering a career path they’d never thought of or finding out what scientists are really interested in
  • Vote for their favourite scientist each week

“The classes really enjoyed the chat. In fact, some students are asking when the next one will be!” – Moira, Teacher

Taking part in I’m a Scientist helps students:

  • Get a better understanding of what science is, and who it’s for
  • Gain confidence asking questions about STEM
  • Stay connected with teachers and with classmates
  • Discover careers they never knew existed

Everything happens online. Students don’t need any special equipment, just a computer, tablet or smartphone.

Students can submit questions at any time throughout the event and in live chats booked by you at a time to suit each class.

Questions are moderated and each school’s live chat is completely private; only students who’ve been given access by their teacher can log in to the Zone, along with the scientists and moderators.

The activity runs to 20 July.

“The format was so much fun to be involved in. The mix of science and career questions, along with those of a rather more off-beat nature, kept it dynamic and enjoyable.” – David, genetics researcher
