I work in a hospital lab in a department called histopathology where I mostly test tissue samples. First, I carefully cut them up and choose the best pieces to examine. Then I look at the cells under a microscope to spot any changes. These tests give doctors vital clues about what’s making someone ill, such as cancer, and help them decide the best treatment.
-
My Typical Day:
My day involves checking the new samples that have arrived, cutting the samples into thin slices to choose the best parts to test. I then put the samples onto slides and stain them with different colours so the cells can be seen clearly. These are sent to a doctor to look at the cells down a microscope and spot any changes ,like signs of cancer, and identify the best treatment.
