Teachers: Get Parents and Caregivers Involved

Whilst I’m a Scientist is running, there are extra after-school live Chats every Thursday evening.

Students can use their login details to drop-in and take part. No need to book!

This is an opportunity to involve parents and carers in what you are doing in school.

Extra Chats for all students take place 7pm to 8pm, Thursday evenings, whilst I’m a Scientist is running.

There may be additional live Chats as well. Please see the information in your Zone.

How to get students involved at home:

Set a Thursday evening live Chat as homework
This is the best way to get your students online. Suggest they log in with a family member, look at the scientists’ profiles together and ask a question in the chat. They just log in as normal and click the Chat button at the top of the page.
Add information to your school newsletter
Below is some suggested wording you might want to send home.

Some of our students will be chatting online with scientists in their lessons, on the I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here website.

We are encouraging students to show their parents and carers the site and introduce them to the scientists in an evening live Chat, from 7pm to 8pm on Thursdays.

Parents and carers can meet the scientists and ask them about what it’s like working in science. It’s text-only (no audio or video). All you need is a computer or tablet with an internet connection.

From 7pm on Thursdays: Log in with your child’s username and password at https://imascientist.org.uk then click the Chat button to take part.
