Thanks to new funding from the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), there’s now even more on offer from I’m a Scientist. Increased capacity makes a big difference, so we’re ‘physched’ to have STFC onboard. Here’s why you should be too…
Keeping a balance of scientists on the site helps teachers to book activities that match their curriculum. Alongside a strong Life Sciences sector, RSC support lets us provide plenty of chemistry and biology activities.
STFC’s funding of spaces for 100 additional scientists bolsters our physics offering. This boost in capacity brings opportunity for a wider range of physics-related activities.
New themes are already live 🎉
CERN Students connect with scientists using CERN facilities and data to study the particles that make up our universe. CERN Chats explore topics like atoms, matter, and energy, with first-hand, real-world insight. Find out more ❯
Quantum Technology Conversations on this fast-evolving area and its increasing influence on modern tech could go anywhere! Quantum Technology Chats bridge industries and applications across healthcare, IT security, climate change, and more. Find out more ❯
More ways to get involved 🙋
Greater capacity means more scientists, who bring more diversity to existing themes. We’re making more Chats available for themes like:
Space: students can Chat with STFC-funded astronomers using cutting-edge facilities like SKAO.
Computer Science: participants can discuss the future of everyday tech, and how quantum computing and supercomputers handle huge datasets to help tackle real-life issues.
🎓 Teachers:
Match enrichment to your teaching. Engage students with real-world applications of topics like astronomy, particles, matter, and computing.
Physics themes, including CERN and Quantum technology, are available to book now!
STFC’s mission is to deliver world-leading national and international research and innovation capabilities and, through those, discover the secrets of the Universe.
STFC is recognised as a leader in STEM engagement in the UK. Their engagement programme uses the work of STFC’s staff, facilities, and wider community to involve people with science and technology.
