🧪 Engage school students with chemistry

Throughout March 2023I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here will connect school students with working chemists from across the UK through the chemistry-themed Molecule Zone.

The Molecule Zone is joint funded by ScotCHEM and The RSC.

Scientists: Apply to take part ❯

Anyone in a chemistry-related job in academia or industry is welcome to apply. We are particularly interested in chemists working at a ScotCHEM connected universities, institutes and companies.


You get to:

  • Chat with students in text-only live Chats
  • Answer their follow-up questions about working in science

It’s flexible and works around your schedule – you choose to take part at times that suit you over a 4-week activity.

ScotCHEM brings together seven universities and other major players in the chemical sciences. We support cooperation, not competition, and strive to promote the activity of our research partners. We are delighted to be working with I’m a Scientist, to showcase the excellent chemistry being undertaken by our institutions, and across the UK.”


It’s all online and text-only (no audio or video). All you need is a web browser.

We’ll have plenty of activities to suit different fields throughout the year and are particularly interested in a wide variety of chemistry-related roles for our Molecule Zone taking place in March 2023.

The Molecule Zone is joint funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry and ScotChem.

  • You could be working in industry, academia or the public sector
  • You could be a technician, an apprentice, or in roles like comms or management
