Nylon 6,6 is a interesting polymer with ideal properties, it’s very strong but also easily stored. This makes it very useful in making airbags.
My work revolves around making the polymer to a high quality whilst also eliminating risks of personnel safety and environmental compliance.
When things go off aim, it’s my job to find out why and troubleshoot accordingly that we make good polymer and keep our customers and end users happy.
(Polymer – large molecules made out of repeating units called “monomers”)

My Typical Day:
I wake up and have breakfast. I get to work around 7:30, and monitor the process performance.
Currently I’m occupied in various projects revolving around data modelling, data linkages across global sister sites and new product introductions.
As well as long term projects my job is to ensureย short term performance deviations in the production of side of things are taken care of. This keeps me busy till 4pm then I go home.

My typical day at work will revolve around data crunching and sharing findings to the relevant stakeholders. There are continuous improving trials I do which make the process efficient and cost effective.
There’s internal auditing I carry out to with friends from quality control to ensure we are correctly adhering to the correct standards. There’s also periodic reviews of various quality and personnel safety studies like addressing FMEA and hazard studies (looks at explosion risks).
In periods of bad running, I conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) to pinpoint the deviating factor in the process and work with cross-functional teams to address this issue and ensure learning is achieved. I learn new things everyday!

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would like to spend it on interactive workshops to allow people from various backgrounds and skill sets to work as a team to solve problems. Problems could be global environmental issues or process improvements.
This would give a accurate depiction to reality in industry as we are all one team!
