I’m a Scientist is an online event that gets schools students talking to real scientists, engaging in dialogue and choosing which of the scientists gets a prize of £500 to communicate their work. The pilot event was in June 2008 and we are now scaling the event up significantly with the help of a Society Award from the Wellcome Trust.
Over the next two years we aim to run the event four times, involving 20,000 students and 250 scientists. More if further sponsorship is secured. We wish to appoint an evaluator to evaluate the project over this time.
The evaluation should take place over the next 18 months, with the bulk of the work this year. It will include formative and summative evaluation and some longditudinal study of the participants from the pilot event to evaluate long term impact.
The budget is £13,000 (inc VAT) although this does not include work done in-house by the project team. The deadline for submitting proposals is Friday 12th March.
Feel free to contact Shane, the event organiser on firstname.lastname@example.org, if you would like further information.
